Properties
The term MDF stands for medium density wood fibers. Resulting from a continuous industrial process, this panel is made of wood fibers and a synthetic binder. It is subject to temperature and pressure constraints.
Features and Benefits:
- Cheaper than solid wood;
- Sold with two water-based basecoats, Interbois MDF moldings are already ready to receive the finishing paint;
- Flawless since its smooth flat surface is uniform, dense and free of knots or grain patterns.
Features and caveats:
Since MDF moldings are sensitive to humidity and temperature variations, it is not recommended to use them in the basement or in the bathroom unless a coat of paint is applied to all four sides of the moldings. molding. After installation, seal the top and bottom of the molding with an appropriate product.
Ambient temperature and relative humidity directly influence MDF. The material may contract or expand as the case may be. Allow the MDF to acclimate to air and ambient heat 48 to 72 hours before installation. Do not store it long term in the basement or in an unheated garage.
