Description
Features
Skirting boards are boards, often of wood, of low height, placed at the foot of the walls, along the floor, inside a building. Decorative and utilitarian elements, they make it possible, among other things, to hide fittings, to hide the spaces left by parquet installers at the foot of the walls (so that the wood can expand), to prevent carpets and linoleum from coming off at the foot walls or hide electrical wires. They protect the bottom of the walls from sweeping or vacuuming and they prevent furniture from sticking to the wall and thus allowing moisture to escape from the walls or preventing dust from stagnating between the furniture and the wall.
For the choice of baseboards and frames in the same decor, a logic is essential. Thickness: the casing must be thicker than or equal to the plinth. Profiles: the curves and grooves of the profiles must resemble each other.
Properties
MDF is the name for medium density wood fibers. Resulting from a continuous industrial process, this panel is made of wood fibers and a synthetic binder. It is subject to temperature and pressure constraints.
Features and Benefits:
- Cheaper than solid wood;
- Sold with two water-based primer coats, Interbois MDF moldings are already ready to receive the finishing paint;
- Flawless since its smooth flat surface is uniform, dense and free of knots or grain patterns.
INSTALLATION
Special features and caveats:
Since MDF moldings are sensitive to humidity and temperature variations, it is not recommended for use in the basement or bathroom unless a coat of paint is applied to all four sides of the molding. molding. After installation, seal the top and bottom of the molding with an appropriate product.
Ambient temperature and relative humidity directly influence MDF. The material may contract or expand as the case may be. Allow the MDF to acclimate to air and ambient heat for 48 to 72 hours before installation. Do not store it long term in the basement or in an unheated garage.
